Cancer can best be described as an uncontrolled growth of cell which may lead to interruption of nearby healthy cells and organs. One type of this cancer is cervical carcinoma which takes place in the cervix. Due to the anatomical relation of the cervix to females, cervical cancer is only found in women and not men. Like many other cancers, it goes unnoticed and an affected person is usually asymptomatic during which the cancer usually grows and spreads.
If this happens and there are certain pointers that can indicate the manifestation of cervical cancer. Some of these are vaginal bleeding that is not normal. Abnormal in this case means that it is not associated with menses.
There is also some vaginal discharge which may be either thick or watery or with an unpleasant smell. Pain the pelvic area can also be felt. For some women, pelvic pain is usually associated with ovulation but in this case, the pain is sharper and longer lasting. Some pain during urination too may be experienced.
If you notice all these symptoms, then you may have cervical cancer and it could be malignant which is no good news at all. If you go to a doctor a qualified physician or even your gynecologist, you may be able to get a diagnosis. Some of the procedures include a cervical biopsy or a screening test.
It is possible to treat cervical cancer but compromises like fertility are usually made, but not always. A hysterectomy may be done which involves removal of the whole uterus including some part of the vagina. A cone biopsy may be done to those affected with cervical carcinoma and wish to remain fertile. Prevention measures include taking of vaccines. It’s also been confirmed that smoking can cause cancer and abstaining from the habit can guarantee less chances of getting it.
